I will be offering one to one therapy for PTSD, CPTSD, and trauma recovery from 2022.
Trauma Informed Yoga is a body-oriented therapy for people who have experienced childhood trauma (including neglect, emotional or verbal abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse), any single event trauma, repeated trauma, vicarious trauma or generational trauma.
Trauma is not what happened to us but what happens inside us as a result of the events. The ways that we become smaller, and become more limited in our responses as a result. The adaptations we make that enable us to survive.
You may not be able to recall the events that led to your difficulties. They may even have been pre-verbal or during your time in the womb.
People might seek therapy because they do remember a traumatic event. This includes a broad range of experiences such as sexual abuse, rape, torture, accidents, medical procedures, bereavement, natural disasters, war and so on.
People coming for this therapy may be experiencing PTSD, CPTSD or other trauma-related symptoms and syndromes.
The natural approach of Trauma Informed Yoga can be seen in the animal kingdom and is why wild animals are not traumatized despite being routinely exposed to life or death situations! We all have an in-built way to process trauma when we are able to feel safe, supported and understood. This may be years after the original events.
Trauma Informed Yoga aims to complete thwarted fight or flight responses and release the survival energies which are locked into patterns of fear, anxiety, shame, anger, shutdown or PTSD.
The therapeutic relationship between myself and my client is an important aspect of this therapy. This can be adapted to people with complex health problems and there is no minimum level of fitness required. It is recommended that you are seeking, or in the process of participating in, some talking therapy alongside Trauma Informed Yoga.
Sessions will take place in my Covid secure therapy room at The Good* Therapy Clinic, Sucklings Yard, Church Street in Ware and last one hour.
