Reiki is a spiritual force and is used to reduce stress and relax the body. It helps to promote healing and bring the chakra system into balance.

What to expect from a treatment

A reiki treatment may involve the laying of hands on the body, or hovering just over the body, in a sequence of hand positions which focus on the head, shoulders, stomach and feet. However, depending on the needs of the clients other areas may also be worked on, I will work on those areas that I am drawn to, alongside the sequence I follow.

Each position is concentrated on for 3-8 minutes depending on how long the reiki flows for and a whole treatment usually lasts for about 45 minutes to an hour. The patient is fully clothed throughout and is usually lying down or in a reclined position.

What does it feel like?

This really varies from client to client and there is no 'right' way to experience reiki. In addition to a feeling of deep relaxation you may also feel warmth or tingling flowing throughout your body, or at certain parts of the body as they are worked on. Emotions may arise, which is completely normal, as the body works to release what is not needed and to heal and come to balance. However some clients may feel nothing other than a sense of being refreshed and energised and that is completely normal too!

What are the benefits?

Reiki is a wonderful treatment that can be used for many different reasons. It has been known to have a positive impact on various different types of physical ailments, as well as working to reduce stress and improve both physical and psychological wellbeing.
